[MUSIC PLAYING] Hello, Highline. I want to update you today on what the governor's emergency proclamation to return students to school buildings means for us in Highline. As many of you know, last week we began returning our pre-K, K, and first-grade students, along with students K-12 in our IAC programs back to our buildings. And it's gone beautifully.

I want to thank our teachers, principals, counselors, custodians, office staff, transportation workers, nutrition services, everybody who has made the return to school for our youngest learners such a success. And next week we will welcome back second and third, followed by fourth and fifth. And of course now the question is, what about middle and high school?

Well, the governor's proclamation mandates that by April 19th, all students K-12 have the option for some kind of in-person hybrid learning at least two days a week. And so right now, we are putting together a family survey that will go out so that we know which families are choosing for their students to remain in distance learning full time, and which will choose to come back in our hybrid model and more information will be coming out to staff this week and next week.

Additionally, on Monday the 22nd, we will host two family webinars. These are webinars for families. We will have separate information sessions for staff. But at 9:00 AM and 5 PM, it's a repeat so you only need to attend one, we'll share what the hybrid model for middle and high school students will look like and answer as many questions as we can.

So I have to say, as much as we are scrambling to adhere to the governor's proclamation, this is a very good thing. We know that we have middle and high school students who are just desperate to get back into their school buildings for some part of the week. And we are so delighted that we will be able to give them that option. And for those wanting to remain in distance learning, as always, that is their option as well.

So with that, I think it's safe to say that this marks a turning point in this long journey that we've been on together over the past year, as our students and staff slowly, and as safely as possible, begin returning to our schools. As always, I thank you for your patience, for your partnership. And I ask that you remain strong, safe, and healthy. Thank you, Highline.
