Dear Highline Virtual Academy Families,
Highline Public Schools is announcing some school moves for September 2023, which include Highline Virtual Academy.
Highline Virtual Academy and Highline Virtual Elementary schools will relocate to space in the former Southern Heights Elementary building, starting in September.
This move creates space at the Olympic site for Tyee High School students to attend school for two years during construction of a new Tyee, as planned.
New Start High School will relocate to part of the former Southern Heights Elementary building as well, to provide improved accommodations for New Start students and staff.
Southern Heights Elementary School closed at the end of the 2021-22 school year due to shrinking enrollment. Southern Heights is in the best condition of the surplus district sites available for school relocation. The 2022 bond includes some funding for critical needs and site improvements, including providing space for our virtual schools and teachers.
Please contact me with any questions you may have. This does not impact our students’ virtual learning experience, but the location of in-person meetings and events will be 11249 14th Avenue South, Burien, WA 98168 next school year.
