Amy Carlson
Amy Carlson has been a part of the Highline Public School team for nearly 20 years and has a lens around creating and adapting to innovative education and reform. She has a progressive mindset and a positive, natural way she works with people – whether they be students, colleagues, staff, community members or families.
She worked as the Assistant Principal of Shorewood Elementary for four years focusing on increasing student’s social emotional literacy, problem solving skills and restorative practices. Prior to that she served as Personalized Learning Manager at the district level, where she was a member of the Universal Design for Learning committee that worked to support the effective use of digital tools to enhance instruction and provide equitable learning opportunities for students.
Amy began her Highline career as a teacher at Cascade Middle School in 2004, where she taught Language Arts, Social Studies, AVID, Art and Photography. She subsequently served as a Blended Learning Specialist at Mount View Elementary and Cascade Middle School.
